It’s 12:44 in the morning and I have no idea why I’m still awake. In a matter of hours, the PBC student body will be getting together for a day of outreach. (Beyond the Butte) I signed up for street evangelism and I’m pretty excited about it. To be completely honest, I have no idea what the plan is, but we’re definitely gonna hit the streets of Portland with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It’s gonna be great. Till next time…
Friendship September 6, 2008

I’m so thankful for the friendships I have. I truly can’t imagine what my life would be like without them. What a blessing! This post however, is just to brag on a buddy of mine. I honestly can’t remember how long it’s been since I first met Scotty while working at Safeway, but my friendship with him has seriously taken my life to another level. Today was the start of a new semester for the both of us. We’ve both blocked out a couple of hours every Friday so that we can spend some time together and catch up. Not only do we catch up, we’re also reading through a book together. You’d be surprised how close two people can get just by reading a book together and then sharing how each chapter impacted your life. It’s just great to walk through life with somebody by your side. Every one of us needs a close friend. Somebody who knows you from the inside out. Accountability is so critical in today’s society. Finding a friend like this isn’t always easy, it’s takes time, but it’s completely worth it. Don’t go through life alone. Find someone you can trust and open up your life to that person. You’ll get what you put into it and if you make it a priority, you’ll find time for them. Life is so much fun when you can enjoy it with those around you.
One more thing…
Everyone needs to…
- Go to the iTunes Store
- Search for Andy Stanley
- Download the LO$T Series
Why? Because it’s THAT good…
Till next time…
Hebrews 10:25 - - Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching
Down to 48 Hours May 21, 2008

I have less than 48 hrs before I hop into my car and drive home. I still have a lot to do too! My room is almost packed up and I’m cleaning it as I go. As of right now, Scotty and I are planning to wake up really early on Friday and drive straight down the coast all the way to San Francisco, possibly spend some time in the city, and then head back to Antioch. Honestly, it still hasn’t hit me that I’m going home for three months, and I honestly don’t think it will for another two. It should be fun…

I just purchased my ticket for DREAM IT.08 which will be in Sacramento, CA this summer. Some of the key note speakers will be Ed Young, Bill Hybels, and Erwin McManus. Some of the musical guests that’ll be there are Delirious? along with my personal favorite, Israel & New Breed! It’s gonna be awesome!
Everything’s been great up here. I wish the sun would come out more! Matt and Joe Episode 5 seemed to be a big hit! A big thanks goes out to everyone who watched it. Whow knows? Maybe we’ll make another one soon. I need to take care of a few things before I go to work so I’ll catch you later. Peace!
Appreciating The Small Things November 5, 2007

I took my car into the shop earlier today and originally I had planned to have one of my friends come and pick me up when I was done. It was so nice outside that I just decided to walk myself back to campus. Besides, I haven’t taken a nice walk in a very long time. So off I went. I was instantly captivated by the brown and orange leaves scrambled across the sidewalks. Every few minutes, the cool breeze would brush across my face and the blue sky made everything that much more beautiful. As I continued to walk, I started to realize how many things we take for granted… (more…)
Oh What A Night August 2, 2007

I recently said that I’ve never been to a more exciting game in my life, well, after tonight, I may have to take that back. The Mariners game was amazing, full of intensity. Everything from the “Penguin Dance”, to the Mariners closing pitcher blowing the lead in the bottom of the 9th, forcing the finale to go into extra innings. I’ve never jumped up out of my seat so much in my life! Here are some of the highlights that took place tonight:
- The weather was beautiful all day
- We saw a Blue Angel airplane
- We managed to get to the 50th floor of one of Seattle’s tallest buildings…AND get inside of a Law Firm office to take some photos. Let’s just say it was a combination of Providence, and PERFECT timing
- Yuniesky Bentacourt made an amazing play from the middle of the infield. He would later make the game winnning hit
- Pitcher Felix Hernandez stayed in the game after a scary collision with first baseman Ben Broussard
- Ichiro made an amazing double play, catching a fly ball from centerfield and then throwing Guerrero at home…I don’t know why he tested Ichiro’s arm
- I was encouraged by a fan sitting next to me to do the penguin dance, hoping we would be shown on the jumbo tron…too funny!
- I’ve officially experienced a “Rally Jig”
- We didn’t leave the city until close to midnight! Which means yes, I’m writing this at 3 a.m.
- Seattle shortened the Angels first place lead by 3 games
- Seattle is now 0.5 games back from Cleveland for the Wild Card race. With the Yankees only 1 game behind, Seattle really needs to step it up
- We’re already planning our next game. This time, Matt will be in town! The rest of you Portlanders should come too! : )
In regards to tonight’s game, Mariners manager John McLaren said: “That’s as good of a game as I’ve been involved in, in years, we had a little bit of everything.”
So yeah, it doesn’t get any better than that! We had an awesome time

Yes, it’s true. Today is my 20th birthday. I’m in a friends wedding so I will be leaving for Maple Valley, Washington pretty soon. I also have plans tomorrow night. CBC is having their grand opening service in Vancouver so a few of us will be getting together for the night. I’m not sure what we will be doing, but it will be fun! : )
People Matter: Part 1 May 13, 2007

For some reason the Lord seems to speak to me by allowing me to have different encounters with
homeless people. Why does He do that? I don’t know, but He does and I’m sure one day I will know why. Recently I went to a local Mexican restaurant. Being the introvert that I am, I went alone. When I walked into the restaurant there was one man in particular that caught my attention. He was what appeared to be a homeless man. As I waited in line to order my food I couldn’t stop the urge to look at him. I’ve come across many homeless people before, but none of them were as impacting as the man I was looking at. He sat off in the corner of the restaurant minding his own business, but at the same time observing everyone around him. He wore a black helmet on his head, had a light jacket on with a t-shirt underneath, blue pants that were ripped, and was barefoot with multiple gashes and calluses that were hard as a rock. I sat down and continued to keep my eye on him.
He always seems to place us in situations that force us to get out of our comfort zone.
As I watched him, my heart went out to him instantly. As he continued to watch everyone in the restaurant, the look on his face expressed a deep desire to have someone to talk to. It was such a dull look, a very empty expression. I couldn’t help but think to myself, (more…)
The Last Time May 7, 2007

If I ‘d known what was going to happen that day, I probably would have planned it out differently. It was like any other, we had just started spring break and I was packing for a trip to North Carolina.
The phone rang and by the tone of my brother’s voice, I could tell something was wrong. When he hung up I walked over to him and asked who had called and what had happened. He said that it was Mikey; he was a very close friend to the family. My brother then went on to explain that Mikey was calling to let us know that they had to rush Steven to the hospital. Steven was his older brother and a very close friend of mine. I asked what had happened and all my brother told me was that Steven had gotten really sick and they thought he had cancer. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! I grabbed my keys and took off to the hospital as fast as I could. (more…)
