Words cannot even express how much this trip to Idaho meant to me. I could go on and on for hours and talk about all of the amazing things God did this past weekend, not just in my own personal life, but also in the Body of Christ as a whole.

    Here are a few things…

The Body of Christ: I am so passionate about my spiritual family. I love the Church with all of my heart. It was so encouraging to see how the Lord is working in the lives of those living in the Boise/Nampa area. Also, I had the wonderful privilege of getting to spend some time with a couple of the interns at FLC (Special shout-out to Ky and Trey) and also taught one of their SOE classes earlier today. Priceless. I love that what I’m a part of is so much bigger than myself. One of my favorite memories of the trip was looking out into the sanctuary during worship while singing Revelation Song. Amazing.

Life in General: The last three weeks have been very difficult. It’s been such an emotionally draining roller-coaster ride and none of it has made any sense until worship started yesterday morning. God showed up and made Himself so real to me, along with everything else going on in my life. Here’s the readers digest version: It is inevitable that we will face trials in life and sometimes our hearts will experience pain. It’s during these times when we must keep our motives right and declare that He is a good God. We press in and worship Him like never before. Our situation may not make any sense, but what we’re a part of is so much bigger than ourselves and the Body of Christ needs us to stay strong so that we can play our part. The life I’ve chosen to live affects the eternal state of many and I can’t afford to throw in the towel, because when the clouds go away, the sun will be shining bright and everything will make sense.

Mentors: I am so thankful that Pastor Marc has taken me under his wing. The last two and a half years have been amazing in so many ways and I will forever be thankful that he decided to become my “Modern Day Paul.” One of the reasons this trip meant so much to me is because it was the first one that we ministered together.

Evangelism: I had a very heartbreaking conversation with the girl that sat next to me on my flight to Boise. For a little more than an hour, she pretty much bashed me and bashed the church. The sad thing was that everything she had to say about the church was true, and the only thing I could do was sit there and apologize on behalf of the Body of Christ and encourage her that there are still Christians out there who are full of compassion and really do love people. It was a huge wake up call and it’s been challenging me in so many ways. (Future blog post waiting to happen)

So yeah, it’s been a great weekend serving FLC and it blessed me in so many ways.

Can’t wait till my next return!

Having fun with an amazing group of young people.

    Calling it a night…

It’s been a long, but great day. We had dinner with this guy, who is a Pastor at this church. It was fun. Marc and I are just hanging out in our room. It’s kind of funny because he’s having me help him improve his network abilities through Facebook. Ha! So yeah, goodnight.

    Till next time…

    A Walk Through the City

I just got back from a walk through the city of Catskill. I loved it! This city is amazing in so many ways. We’re just about done with all of the meetings and then we’ll be having dinner with one of Marc’s friends up in Albany later tonight. Here are some pics from the walk… (I’ll upload more later)

Walking through this park I found.

The real 'Uncle Sam' lived in this house back in 1817!

This house was too cool for school!

    Goodnight from Catskill, NY

It’s close to midnight and I really need to get to bed, but I thought I would give you guys a quick update. Marc’s already asleep, what a wimp. The youth service tonight went great. It was so much fun! Marc preached a great message entitled World Changers and their was such a sweet presence during the altar call. After the service I headed over to the gym because I really wanted to hang out with the teens. I loved it! I became the all time quarterback for their football game and some of them were fighting over me because I was the “dude from Oregon.” Gotta love it. I’ve been so encouraged to see the body of Christ outside of my normal atmosphere. It’s just another reminder that what I belong to is so much bigger than myself.

We have another full day ahead of us. We’re gonna wake up in the morning and head back to the church for Round 2. It should be fun.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! Pastor Rick’s wife made us some chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream on the side and it was heaven! She also put this fudge on top of the ice cream. She said she got the recipe from Jack Hayford’s wife. All I gotta say is that them Foursquare Pastors wives sure do know how to cook! It was glorious.

    Till next time…

Playing a quick game of football after the service. What a privilege it is to serve God's children. It's all about the people.

We just came to serve. It's all about the people!

    Jet Lag

Okay, so I know I only flew from Portland, OR to Albany, NY, but still, I’m tired! All is well. We were in meetings all day with several leaders from the church. Marc took them through a lesson entitled Seven Steps To Fulfilling God’s Vision and it was goooooooood stuff.  We just got back to our little hotel looking thing to rest up until FBC’s youth group service tonight. I was informed that I’ll be giving a little exhortation/testimony before Marc speaks so we’ll see how that goes. Everyone is really nice up here and I can’t believe how big the houses are over here. They’re amazing! But yeah, I think I’m gonna fall asleep until dinner.

    Till next time…

    Hello from Albany, NY

I made it to New York. All is well but I’m so stinkin tired! The flight to Virginia was pretty cool and Albany welcomed me with its beautiful scenery. I recently read Bill Hybel’s newest book Axiom and was challenged when it talked about how leaders have a mandate before God to constantly grow. So, I viewed my six hours in the air as a wonderful time to increase my leadership skills by finishing a book, starting a new one, and busting out a few podcasts. I love iTunes so much!

I’m still here at the airport waiting for Marc’s flight to arrive. It’s 7pm NY time and I think I have to wait another hour or so. Anyway, there’s this couple making out in front of me so unless their little “welcome home reunion” goes somewhere else, I think I’m gonna find another spot to surf the web. Good grief.

    Till next time…

Oh yeah. Hey Stevie, thanks for the camera!

    Good Morning from PDX

Hey guys. It’s 6:45 in the morning and I’m running on a four hour power nap. My flight to Washington/Dulles leaves in about an hour, then from there I’ll catch my connecting flight to Albany, NY. I have the wonderful privilege of traveling with this guy, who in my opinion, is pretty sweet! Our final destination will be in Catskill. From what I hear, everything about upstate NY during this time of the year is beautiful. I’ve never been that far north so I’m pretty excited. Marc will be speaking at First Baptist Church of Catskill and I hear the church is over 200 years old and has had guys like Billy Sunday preach there. Pretty cool eh? So yeah, it’s gonna be great.

A quick shout out to Matt and Jenny. Thanks for seeing me off! You know you have great friends when they wake up super early to drop you off at the airport.

    Till next time…

4 hours of sleep? Good grief...
