This has been such a fun trip! A very exhausting one, but it’s been great. On Wednesday I had the privilege of going to the San Francisco airport to pick up Donnie McClurkin. He’s such a nice guy! After we dropped him off at his hotel I headed back to Antioch with my Pastor, there was so much going on and I still can’t believe it’s already over! Service that night was great! It was so much fun! The gym was packed and worship was awesome! Pastor Donnie preached about twenty different sermons in one but his overall message on faith was awesome. Recently, McClurkin has been dragged into the politcal scene with Sen. Barrack Obama. Before he got into his sermon, McClurkin addressed the situation and how he feels about it. It was really cool to watch him talk about the whole thing. I really enjoyed being in the”Gospel” environment again… (more…)

This past weekend was so refreshing. It was so nice to be around those that have poured so much into my life, guiding me to be the person that I am today. Saturday night was just awesome! If you would’ve told me four years ago that I would be ministering side by side with Seyi, I would’ve called you crazy! Seyi and I met when I was a junior in High School. He was helping my youth pastor drive a bunch of us to our Summer Camp and after we ate at Taco Bell, this was pretty much how our first conversation went…

Hey can I ask you something?”

“Sure, what’s up?”

“Well, you seem like a pretty cool guy and I really need someone in my life right now to help me out. Do you think we could meet up when I get back from camp?”

“Oh yeah, for sure! Give me a call when you’re back in town.”

That was four years ago and to this day he’s still calling me and speaking into my life. It’s just neat to watch how the Lord brings certain people into our lives and then uses that relationship to bring others closer to Him. Church on Sunday was quite the experience! Towards the end of service, the fire alarm randomly went off! Pastor Shaun was preaching and out of nowhere, this annoying siren started ringing throughout the cafeteria. So Shaun continued to preach, he was just speaking a lot louder! Soon after that, a fire chief walked in and told all of us that we had to evacuate the building until everything was clear. I still think Ben Short pulled the alarm but who knows! (Inside Joke)

After service I was able to spend some time speaking to those that have been there from the infant stages of my Christian walk. It was so nice to look in their eyes and listen to them as we reflected over the last few years of my life. They continued to remind me of all the wisdom they’ve poured into me and since I’m no longer the sixteen year old in their youth group, they started to talk to me in a more mature way, encouraging me to stay strong as I continue to fulfill my pupose in life. I thank the Lord for people like
them…

I just landed in Portland a couple of hours ago but I will be heading back to Antioch tomorrow night with Luis…(Don’t ask why I’m traveling like this. It’s just how it worked out this time with my schedule)…this week, Fellowship Church will be celebrating its 5-year anniversary and I was asked to come home and celebrate with them. It’s going to be so much fun! This Wednesday we have Pastor Donnie McClurkin coming to speak and then on Sunday, GB5 will be coming as special musical guests. I’ve never heard of them but it’s going be good. On Friday, I’m going to my brother’s football game, which is also going to be a lot of fun! I’m hoping my old band teacher will let me hang out with the drumline because that’s where all of the action is! Somewhere between all of that, Luis and I will be going to San Francisco.

So yeah, it’s gonna be an exciting week…

I had such a good time yesterday! Living Springs Christian Center was celebrating its 7th year anniversary and it was so much fun. All of the kids were giving their all and it was so cool to watch them. I kind of forgot what it was like to be in a “Gospel” church located in the Bay Area, ahhhh it was great! So here is a brief summary of the trip along with some photos…

So the Lord pretty much wrecked me in Chapel today! I’m completely captivated by the Lord’s grace right now. After lunch I headed back to my room and symbolically wrote my “wedding vows” to the Lord, declaring that from this day forward, I will never be the same…

“I, Joseph Mathew Garibay, take you, Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior. With deepest joy I receive you into my life that together we may be one. As you are to your Body, the Church, so I will be to you a loving and faithful servant. I give you the deepest part of my heart, trusting that you will treasure it as long as I live. Words cannot express the appreciation I have towards the love that you’ve given me so freely. The love I have for you is like no other, full of joy, peace, and compassion. Just as you have been faithful to me, I promise to be faithful to your Church, laying down my life for the plans you have set before me. I promise to love, share, defend, and respect the Gospel that has saved my soul. Without you I am nothing, and from this day forward I will take hold of your hand and walk right by your side, understanding that I can do nothing without you. I promise to endeavor to show you the same kind of love that you showed the Church when you died for her, and to love you as a part of myself because in your sight we shall be one. I plead your blood upon my life, I love you.
